A celebration of women composers in Mexico, even though very well attended and warmly received by the Mexican public, was a special and unique (rare) event that begs the question: Have women composers arrived or is music by women essentially different? Should there be a completely dedicated and specific context for music by women, and by extension, for music by Latin Americans? This is something to consider, given that the context for European composers is the conventional concert hall, where music by women and/or Latin Americans feels slightly out of place.
